Pivot, Pastries, and a "Brat" Hat

If Day 3 had a theme, it would be "The Great Pivot." We stepped out of our room to find a Skyliner line that was—to put it mildly—sky-the-limit long. Since I’m not much for standing still when there are snacks to be had, we swerved and headed straight for the food court. Brian had a Mickey waffle craving that needed tending to, and I was on a mission for the infamous PB&J croissant.

It’s a Pop Century legend, but it was nowhere to be found. I asked a Cast Member about it, and he was so sweet—he trekked back to the kitchen and found out they were being baked as we spoke. While we were waiting for Brian’s waffles, that same CM reappeared with a box just for me. Inside? A warm, freshly baked PB&J croissant. Oh my goodness, y’all. It officially hit my favorite Disney snack list. It was a total Disney moment.

Epcot: Our Home Away From Home

Once the Skyliner line settled, we zipped over to Epcot. We spend a lot of time here, but can you blame us? There’s always so much to explore and learn. We started the morning with a specific goal: a photo in "Paris." We even dressed for the occasion!

The Skyliner drops you at the back entrance, making France your first stop on the right. But, whomp whomp—no photographer. A CM told us to check back later, so we swerved again and did what we do best: we shopped. I found a gorgeous new purse, and Priscilla treated herself to new ears, a shirt, and earrings. We shrunk down for a ride on Ratatouille and then hit my absolute "must-do," Les Halles Boulangerie-Patisserie.

We enjoyed:

  • Croque Monsieur & Champagne (My signature order!)
  • Lobster Bisque
  • Crème Brûlée Everything was a 10/10. The weather was perfection, the park wasn't crowded at all, and we quite literally danced and twirled our way through the countries.

A Culinary Tour (and a bit of Patriotism)

We popped over to Japan (can you tell which country is Ra’s favorite?) for more shopping before hitting the American Adventure. The festival lines were actually small, so we grabbed one of everything from America: the Steakhouse Lobster Caesar Salad, the Peppercorn-crusted Striploin, and the Dark Chocolate Torte.

We sat down at a table to feast, and everything was so good we actually clapped and chanted "USA!" right there at the table. No regrets.

The rest of the afternoon was a blur of flavors:

  • Italy: A Bellini for me, a slice of pizza for Brian, and a street performer show. I also met an amazing artist who was premiering his art at the festival for the first time—he’s a Cast Member, too! What a talented and nice guy. I prayed many blessings for him.
  • Germany: A caramel snickerdoodle cookie (yum).
  • Mexico: We played the drums while a band serenaded a newlywed couple. Se romantique!
  • Canada: A Figment ice cream cone, Bone Marrow (7/10), Mushroom Risotto (10/10), and a popcorn bucket full of Maple popcorn.

We finally headed back to get our Eiffel Tower photo. The photographer was there this time, but the sun was so bright the pictures were not the greatest. They had sunspots and those blown-out skies that make the tower disappear behind you!

Hollywood Studios & The "Too Nice" Waitress

Next, we skylined over to Hollywood Studios for our Fantasmic! Dinner Package at 50’s Prime Time Café. We met Chip and Dale while waiting, which is always a hoot.

Our table was tucked away in the back, away from the hubbub of the restaurant. Now, if you’ve been to 50’s, you know the schtick: the servers are supposed to give you a hard time. Our waitress was very nice, but honestly? She was toonice for this experience! There was no playful banter or silly antics.

After several talks with her about my elbows on the table (Priscilla was so excited to see me get in trouble!), she finally brought me a hat that said "Brat" and just put it on the table. No joking, no nothing! I made the best of it, wore the hat anyway, and goofed around with Priscilla about it.

While the entertainment part wasn't very entertaining, the food was surprisingly delicious. We got the Salmon, Pot Pie, and Pork Chops. Even without the usual "Mom" lecturing us to finish our veggies, we did all become members of the Clean Plate Club! I also had a Grandma’s Picnic Punch and the Tune-In PBJ Cocktail—Skrewball whiskey and blackberry brandy? Yes, please!

Ending on a High (and a Cold Walk)

We knocked out Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, Slinky Dog Dash, and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster before playing Batuu Bounty Hunters. Then, it was time for Fantasmic!

I am so incredibly glad we had those VIP seating tickets. I would not have wanted to wait in that line just to find a seat. The show was fun and full of great music—it is a total must-do.

We waited a bit for the crowd to thin out before heading to the Skyliner, but we timed it a little too well. They closed it down two minutes before we got there! There was a large crowd of us needing transportation back to POP, and it was a lot of cold confusion with no signs or help. Luckily, Brian went to the buses and asked a CM there. They had just opened up a bus stop for us and a bus was already waiting.

There were a couple of hiccups, but overall, it was still a Disney day to remember!
