Coffee, Confessions, and the Great Sweatshirt Grand Finale
I started my morning the only way a girl should—with a cup of coffee and a little bit of work on the porch. We spent those early hours packing up and giggling, reminiscing about all the fun we had already crammed into this trip. After dropping our luggage with the bellman, we headed straight for the pool. It was warm, sunny, and exactly the kind of relaxation I needed.
For breakfast, I did a mobile order from Steakhouse 71 at the Contemporary. I went with Walt’s favorite: the Prime Rib Hash. This dish is inspired by Walt Disney’s personal preferences and is a hearty, savory mix of seared prime rib, fried potatoes, caramelized onions, and peppers, all topped with a fried egg. It is easily a signature item for a reason—the portion size and high-quality ingredients make it the ultimate comfort food. I highly recommend it if you want to start your day feeling like a boss.
We also broke open a few High Noons and enjoyed a game of music bingo, which Danielle won. Then, because I can’t help myself when the light is right, we had an impromptu photoshoot of the fabulous Heather on the beach. She looked incredible, and since I have a deep love for the beach, it was the perfect backdrop.
After the pool, we decided to hit a few resort gift shops on a hunt for pins and—you guessed it—another sweatshirt. Danielle decided we still hadn't found "the one," so the saga continued. We checked out the Contemporary shops where we found some great pins, and I treated myself to an exclusive Contemporary Pandora charm.
Then we headed over to the Poly, and hallelujah! Danielle finally found the sweatshirt she loved. Third time is truly the charm. We were having so much fun shopping that we realized we were running out of time. Since our luggage was nearby, we headed back to Steakhouse 71 to grab some last-minute grub. I had been thinking about those wings since day one, so you better believe I ordered them.
I also took a gamble on the crab cake. Being from Maryland, I’m always a bit of a snob about crab cakes, but the people sitting next to us were actually from Mt. Airy, Maryland, and they were eating them. I figured if my neighbors were into it, I’d take the risk. It totally paid off—they were delicious.
We grabbed our luggage, caught our Uber, and headed to the airport. I’m going to end the story right there on that high note, because the airport was a total mess and not a great experience. Definitely not Disney’s fault, but I’d rather remember the wings and the sunshine!
