My heart is so full after the most magical Valentine's weekend in Williamsburg, VA, with my incredible husband, Brian! ❤️
We escaped for a few days to the charming Vacation Village at Williamsburg, and it was absolutely perfect. https://vacationvillageresorts.com/vacation_village_williamsburg/index.html The accommodations were so spacious and comfortable! We loved our master suite with the king-size bed and jacuzzi tub, and the full kitchen, dining area, living room with a fireplace, and balcony made us feel right at home. While we didn't get to use the vast pool, playground, and tennis courts due to the weather, the indoor pool and hot tub were a delightful treat, along with the free DVD library.
Our Valentine's Day adventure started a bit later than planned, thanks to the kids' co-op classes and some unexpected traffic. But honestly? That extended drive turned into a blessing! It gave Brian and me some precious, uninterrupted time to talk and reconnect, which was the perfect start to our romantic weekend. Once we finally checked into Vacation Village, we were starving and ready for a good meal. Thankfully, Google led us straight to Cook's Burger Bar! https://www.cooksburger.com/ Stepping inside was like stepping back in time – the 50s vibe was so much fun! And talk about lucky timing! We hit 'Duck Fat Friday,' and as a serious duck enthusiast, I was in heaven. The Duck Poutine and those crispy duck fat fries? Absolutely divine! We didn't stop there, though. We also devoured the COOK'S PATTY MELT (Beef patty, aged Swiss, caraway kraut, caramelized onions, and garlic aioli, served on toasted seeded rye ) and the FRENCH DIP BURGER, and let me tell you, every bite was absolutely delicious. It was the perfect, satisfying start to our Williamsburg getaway."
The weather forecast wasn't promising, but we decided to brave it and explore Historic Williamsburg. And what a wonderful decision that was! The rain stayed away, and we enjoyed a beautiful day wandering the historic streets. Brian, who's been learning photography from me, got some fantastic hands-on mentoring. It was incredibly special to see him grow and share in my passion. Each click of the shutter felt like a shared moment, creating memories we'll cherish.
In the evening, we went back to our cozy room and changed into something a bit nicer, ready for a romantic dinner at Second Street American Bistro. https://secondst.com The atmosphere was upscale casual, perfectly balancing elegance and comfort. I had my heart set on a steak, but the sweet sauces on their steak options weren't quite what I was craving. Instead, I opted for the Grilled Romaine Salad – grilled romaine lettuce with creamy Caesar dressing, croutons, Parmesan cheese, tomato, and a balsamic drizzle, topped with perfectly grilled salmon. And honestly? It was absolutely wonderful! I was so happy with my choice. Brian ordered the lasagna, which he raved about. And we can't forget the incredible Pork Belly Bites appetizer – flash-fried pork belly with gochujang glaze, scallions, and toasted sesame seeds. They were savory and addictive!
We woke up to a beautifully warm day, a delightful contrast to the forecast! We decided to take our time and enjoy the atmosphere. First, we visited the Local General Store https://www.williamsburgshops.com and found some perfect souvenirs for the kids. Then, we leisurely strolled through Historic Williamsburg, browsing the shops and taking photos. It was so relaxing to just wander, explore, and share the experience together, with our cameras as our companions.
I send a heartfelt thank you to Vacation Village for hosting us—it was truly the perfect Valentine's getaway!
Most importantly, an immense thank you to my wonderful parents for holding down the fort and caring for our precious children, allowing us this special time together. We are endlessly grateful for your love and unwavering support. ❤️ This weekend spent with my amazing husband felt like a precious gift. I feel incredibly loved and cherished, and I eagerly await our next adventure together!
